3 Natural Attractions to Visit in Colombia

A view of the sea and mountains in Colombia
From serene beaches to majestic mountains, Colombia is abundant with natural attractions pleasing to the eyes.

The great outdoors. It's a place full of wonder, majesty, and beauty. Crisp fresh air, blue skies, and fields of green if you’re in the mountain regions. If you’re by the sea, you can feel the sand between your toes, the warm air, and the cool waters. Or maybe you’re interested in seeing wildlife in person.

All of this can be found in Colombia, but unfortunately, you’re not there yet. Wouldn’t it be nice if you were?

All it takes is a message to your boss, a signal to a trusted travel agency or some friends that you have, a plan that involves what you want to experience, and lodgings. After a couple of hours of planning, it’s no longer a bunch of imagery you see on your computer screen. That’s because you’ll be there in the flesh.

But what can you experience in the great Colombian outdoors? Take a look at a few places that might be a part of your itinerary.

3 nature spots on your Colombian travel list:

1. Eje Cafetero, Colombia

Eje Cafetero, otherwise known as the Colombian Coffee Triangle, is mainly composed of the regions of Caldas, Risaralda, and Quindio. These regions have contributed to being the 3rd largest exporter of coffee in the 20th century.

Apart from coffee-tasting tours in the area, why not discover the hot springs of Santa Rosa de Cabal or hike up the mountains of Los Nevados National Park and visit the birds? The area is well known for hot air balloons and paragliding activities which allow you to see the region from the sky.

2. Tayrona National Natural Park, Colombia

Have you ever visited the highest coastal mountain in the world? If not, you need to visit Tayrona National Natural Park.

It is located in the Caribbean region, near the city of Santa Marta. It is host to beautiful bays and coves with white sandy beaches, mountains, and mangrove swamps. If you need time away from civilization, this is the place to be.

There are magnificent beaches and miles of turquoise blue sea. Ride on a boat and snorkel in the surrounding waters. Swim in the beaches and coves of Change, Gayraca, Cinto, Neguanje, Concha, and Guachaquita.

3. Chingaza National Natural Park, Colombia

Have you ever visited the Andes Mountains? If you haven’t, you can always take a trip to Chingaza National Natural Park. It is both a natural and cultural treasure located in the center of Colombia.

This will be for those who are dedicated hikers and trekkers since you will need to plan well ahead. There are no service stations inside the park and it is a well-protected area.

However, if you can visit the area, you can find out why this place produces over 80% of the drinking water of the Capital, BogotĂ¡. You can find over 60 lagoons that are fed by glaciers. You can also spot over 2000 plant species and around 390 bird species apart from all of the other flora and fauna.

If you’re into hiking, there are trails to observe the surrounding lagoons and mountainous areas. It’s a sight that you can only find in this natural wonderland.

Make Colombia one of your travel destinations soon.

Why wait? There’s a wider world out there than your weekday work routine. There is a reason that the birds go south for the winter. Since it’s warmer near the equator, why not head on over to Colombia and enjoy the natural sights the country has to offer?
